Hailing from Sudbury, Canada, Statues have been making quite a name for themselves world wide. With a sound that some call power pop, statues with have you tapping your feet and singing a long in no time. Unlike many so called power pop bands statues add a nice dose of punk rock energy to their sound. They are influenced as much by 77 punk and 82 hardcore as they are late 70 s early 80 s power pop. As Maximum Rock N Roll #285 stated: Wow, a welcome new discovery for me. Mining the same updated pop-punk/power-pop/mod-punk vein as Smalltown or current faves Tranzmitors, with the hint of a less snotty Briefs and a literary Jawbreaker-esque quality to the lyrics. Great stuff, recorded well and with great catchy choruses. Sounds authentic but not retro. (AM)
