"STANDING IN THE SUNReview by Doug Cornell It's always such fun to unearth a real winner from the bottom of the charts. STANDING IN THE SUN are a creative art-rock outfit from LA who occupy similar sonic space with Radiohead or Remy Zero. "RiverWIDE" begins with an eerie sound that the band says are crowds of alien voices, and you might agree. The aliens disappear to their mothership as a soft electric guitar enters the song. As you are lulled into a hypnotic state, rifle fire drum hits and heaps of electric guitars appear, jolting your consciousness into the here and now. This CD has enough atmosphere and substance to keep you interested for eons. STANDING IN THE SUN understand dynamics and the benefit of a good recording. Don't miss this one!!!"

"I compulsively bought this CD after hearing the song standing in the sun. I sort of wish I hadn't. Standing in the sun and Riverwide are good songs but a lot of this album is filler. But that's ok, it happens. What really bothers me is there comments about themselves in the CD jacket and on mp3.com. They label them selves as musical messiahs and go on about how they are a classic band and how they are going to change the world. This would be very irritating even if they were a classic band doing something really new. But the really aren't. Bands like Sonic Youth and Slint have been experimenting with guitar music somewhat similar to this for 10 or 20 years and they did it a lot better. If it wasn't for they're self-indulgent comment I probably would probably give this album 3 stars but now when I listen to this CD I find my self disgusted."
