Synopsis

Album Description
Oakland's STORMCROW and Seattle's SANCTUM are relative newcomers, having both only existed for a few years time. However, listening to their epic split album, both bands sound like seasoned veterans of a scene that began when they were but children. Both bands play an impossibly heavy brand of War Crust as they like to call it, influenced primarily by England's mighty Bolt Thrower with additional direct ties to crust forefathers like the legendary Amebix and Axegrinder. Stormcrow tend to build longer, more epic and metalized songs while Sanctum keep it to shorter, sharper attacks, both utilizing the infamous D-beat to ultimate effect, and tuning low enough to sound like a battalion of warriors charging to battle. Already considered a classic in the crust division.

CD Reviews

Awesome new school US Crust
Morbid Anxiety | Chicago, IL, USA | 02/16/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This record is great. Stormcrow from Oakland start this album off with three crushing songs two "short" (for them) and one thats around 7 minutes long.3 songs in about 20 mintues. The lyrics are bleak with political undertones, the music is sometimes fast, sometimes slow but always heavy. This is one of my favorite crustpunk bands from the last few years, with comparisons to Filth of Mankind without a keyboard.

Sanctum from Seattle make up the last 5 songs of this split. Theyre fast crust with lyrics that focus on war. With downtuned guitars and Dbeat drums, this band always gets compared to Bolt Thrower (on this recording, they even have a female bassist). Check their myspace for tour dates for spring 2008. they do a cover of Extreme Noise Terror's "Work for Never".

you probably wont find it on Amazon, so just find the 20BuckSpin website and get it from there. There was also an LP version, but the record label is sold out. There were 299 copies pressed on red/silver vinyl for all you collector scum.

A great introduction to two of the best US crust bands going. It might be too metal for punks, and too punk for metalheads, but perfect if you like both genres. FIND IT!"
