"Back in the fifties, I bought these two LP albums. They gave me a great deal of enjoyment. To have them both on a single CD is a dream come true. Both the fifes and drums of "The Spirit of '76", and the drums and bugles (actu~~~y trumpets) of "Ruffles and Flourishes" are not only stirring music, but the are also a part of our nation's history. If you have stood at attention at present arms at sundown as retreat sounded and the flag was lowered, you will enjoy this album."
This is the real deal!

"Although I'm from a Navy family, I have 14 years in the Army and what you'll hear on this recording is as real as it gets because this is not "a band", this is the Commandant's Own - these are real marines and soldiers playing what they are charged with playing in their daily jobs for the Marines, for the Army, and their country.
I have the original 33 1/3 record and to find this on CD was fantastic and brought back a lot of great memories."

"This CD not only lived up to expectations, it exceeded them. The wealth of period martial music on the album was great, with everything from marches to drum calls. As a reenactor, this provided me with essential information and really sets the mood for any event I attend. I have also used pieces as background music for gatherings and events. I am completely satisfied with the CD!"

"Excellent CD for the person who likes to listen to old style military marching or calvary type music. The sound quality is great and the history of each piece adds to the experience of listening to the variety of each of the 66 tracks."

"I am enjoying "The Spirit of '76 and Ruffles and Fourishes" a great deal; the drum patterns alond with the fife/piccolo as well as the bugle tunes are very well played. The recording quality is excellent. Most of all, I am enjoying the adherence to perpetuating the tradition of the original music. Thanks."
