"Spencer Brewer does not need much of an introduction. He is a power in the New Age arena - as a composer, performer and producer. He is responsible for the YMCA theme song, among other things. Dorian's Legacy sat on top of Billboard's New Age charts for 10 months. Noted for his ability to combine strong pianistic skills with lush arrangement, he has carved a unique and well-deserved position in the genre.Dorian's Legacy is something of a change of pace from Brewer's previous work. Many of the works are perspnal pieces to friends and supporters. The album is very melodic and light of heart, perhaps because it is dedicated to his young son, it bears up well under extended listening. I'm not much of a fan of 'feel good' music, but Brewer proves that it can be done. And done well. The pieces range from the jazzy sounds of Marcel and Claudette to the rhythmic delights of Dr. D and Savoy Strut. My favorites, though, are a set of exuberant pieces that have and almost childish nature to them - Dorian's Legacy and Eric's Theme for example. These have an infectious spirit and offer some surprising orchestrations. Bound to bring on a smile and just a bit of toe tapping as well. Make this album part of the New Ager's standard CD collection."
