Synopsis
Album Description Superb limited edition card digipak reissue of this 1971 album from the Japanese supergroup containing an eight page booklet with band info, photos and complete English lyrics. Created by famous Japanese producer Ikuzo Orita, Speed, Glue & Shinki were a Japanese supergroup made up of Shinki Chen (ex-Powerhouse and Foodbrain) on guitar, Masayoshi Kabe (ex-Golden Cups) on bass and Filipino Joseph 'Pepe' Smith (ex-Zero History) on vocals and drums. The resulting sound was extremely bleak and raw, with Kabe's crunching atonal bass runs and Smith's stop-start rhythms creating a unique base for Shinki Chen's euphoric blues. Erebus. 2008. |
CD ReviewsA decent hard rock record. Eric Dahlstrom | Michigan | 03/25/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "I would say this about 3 and half stars. This being the first of 2 records by this land of the rising sun band. Somewhere between James Gang and Zep with a touch of Sabbath here and there. I prefer the 2nd record but this one is usually the one that gets praised more. If you are building a hard rock collection of good 70's stoner bands..you will need this." Pepe, pinoy rock and roll's grand daddy Gil M. Limtengco | foster city ca | 11/18/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "every fan of pepe smith should have this cd. i bet some of his fans didnt realize that pepe had a musical stint with this band. this band was before his famous song "ang himig natin". its about time that pepe should be considered for a national artist award in the philippines. regardless of his life style. pepe is not playing filipino rock and roll. he is filipino rock and roll.
this cd is not a great cd in terms of technical production but it was a phase in smith's musical career that needs to be recognized." |
