"The Spaniels is one of the best doo-wop groups of all time. It seems that the majority of the people know "Goodnight Sweetheart, Goodnight". In my opinion they had other songs just as good as "Gnite". Listen to songs like "Baby It's You", "Let's Make Up", "Crazee Baby", "People Will Say Were In Love" "You're Gonna Cry". Most of thier records were popular in the chitlin circut in thier time. Pookie's voice was smooth and romantic. I strongly recommend this cd."

Goodnight Sweetheart but not goodbye and not forgotten

"One of the true cornerstones of R&B vocal group music of the 50's is "Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight" by Spaniels. Opening with the wonderful bass tones of Gerald Gregory and then the great impassioned tenor of James "Pookie" Hudson this recording has become the classic "last dance song" of untold numbers of parties and dances. The Spaniels never had a record sell as well as that one but that doesn't mean they didn't make great music. Just listen to how good these guys really were. There is nothing but great vocal harmony, precision and true professionalism in these tunes. Some songs included here were flip sides and throw aways, but most are simply wonderful to hear. Listen to the fine version of "Red Sails in the Sunset", along with "Baby it's You, Peace of Mind, Dear Heart, These Three Words and Doo Wah", and don't tell me this isn't one of the best Doo-Wop groups you've ever heard. Carefully listen to "Since I Don't Have You", to hear the group having a good time making fun of the whole Du-wop scene. You will not regret buying this C-D. Enjoy and have a Goodnight Sweetheart Goodnight with pleasant musical memories by the Spaniels."
