Arguably the best Sound of Music recording

"To me, this recording of The Sound of Music is one of the best out there. Jean Bayless is great as Maria. I will not compare her to Mary Martin or Julie Andrews--each woman stands on her own merits. The same goes here. Go beyond the ever popular movie soundtrack and look for this one next time you're in the record store. I'm sure you'll find it very enjoyable. The stereo recording is fantastic.

This 1997 release from Angel Records presents the complete recording (all 17 cuts) as heard on the original 1961 LP. Laserlight released a truncated version of the recording in 1995 with only 11 cuts; several important songs missing. AVOID the Laserlight release at all costs. Look only for the original Angel Records version. It is still in print."
