CD ReviewsWhat a suprise! Bob Porri/ www.mp3.com/bobp3 | 12/17/1999 (5 out of 5 stars) "I've grown weary of what passes for music lately, it's as though the music companies go out of their way to develop mediocre talents and then fabricate endless clones of the same. It was by chance that I overheard a copy of Soul Retrieval's "Surrender to the Rythm of Grace" and I was stunned! ( I actually knocked on the door of the flat I heard it coming from to ask who it was). It gave me the same goose-flesh feeling I had when I listened to Jimi Hendrix or Led Zepplin for the first time... as though one was watching the entrance of a redeeming force in the evolution of rock. The music literally picks you up and grabs you in a way you're unlikely to have experienced before. The tonal colours provided by the ensemble are fresh and brilliantly utilised; the guitar work, for example, is likely to add a significant chunk to the existing lexicon of rock and spawn a generation of mimics and devotees.Whilst the musical world is filled with unwarranted hype, I'm confident that one could actually knock down brick walls with the sounds on this CD. Play it loud, but play it carefully!" Souls on fire Bob Porri/ www.mp3.com/bobp3 | Canada | 02/03/2000 (5 out of 5 stars) "This song starts with an excellent intro. It had me going right from the start.Really good sounding recording and mix.I love the snare sound. Very interesting vocals start up sparingly at first. They really pull you in as soon as the song starts developing. Cool punchline for the chorus. Not to give away too much but, "let me be with another soul on fire " is a very cool statement and given even more power by virtue of the vocal style.I really like the use of the guitars. There is some really fantastic, creative playing on this. A wide variety of styles are used and they all blend well. The entire song really holds your attention, and is a real pleasure to listen to. Some great work here. I would highly recommend anyone who enjoys good creative Rock to get a hold of this song."
