Synopsis

Album Description
Yonder Mountain Sting Band's own Jeff Austin and Chris Castino of The Big Wu first met four years and recently came together to record their debut album, Songs from the Tin Shed(Frog Pad Records). Nick Forster of Hot Rize fame plays on the majority of the album and other featured guests include; Sally VanMeter, Darol Anger, Noam Pickelny (Leftover Salmon), and all of Jeff's Yonder Mountain band mates; Ben Kaufmann, Adam Aijala, and Dave Johnston. The album consists primarily of original songs by Austin and Castino, with a few seamless covers thrown in the mix. Grasping a strong hold on the sound of Americana music this talented duo creates a raw, roots blend of folk, country, and bluegrass with a distinctive contemporary edge. Songs from the Tin Shed is sure to please long time YMSB and Big Wu fans alike, along with a wealth of others.

CD Reviews

Kick bum songwriting and singing!
03/16/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I think this CD is totally one of the best things that has ever come out of either of these musicians. Jeff's singing and songwriting is top notch as ever as is Chris's. Chris vocal's are reminicent of an old country style somewhere where Hank Williams Jr. meets Jimmy Rodgers meets Willie Nelson. I highly recommend this to anybody who digs Folk Music, Old Time County, Yonder and The Big Wu."
