How the Kreutzer is meant to be played . . .

"After listening to a number of Kreutzer recordings (including some of the more famous household names like Mutter and Perleman) I stumbled across this one at a friend's house and refused to leave without it. These two, though I had never heard anything by them before, are incredible - their execution is perfectly timed, the expression flawless, and this performance of the Kreutzer is one of the most passionate I have encountered. It is so relentless it literally leaves you gasping for air by the end. The tempo they choose is challenging (as a pianist my arms hurt just imagining playing at that speed) but they make it work. The rest of the CD is equally well done, and it's become a favorite with my four roommates as background music in the apartment. I would personally buy this recording if only for the first movement of the Kreutzer - a must have for any collection!"
