"The presence of Zoltan Kodaly as chamber composer, has been overlooked by most audiences. On one hand, the relevance of Bela Bartok as the Hungarian master per excellence; plus the fact Kodaly is widely known just because Peacock variations, Te Deum, Gallanta Dances and Marozzek dances; I mean his orchestral pieces literally overshadowed his chamber music.
The first appproach respect Kodaly in chamber music was his piano music (after having watched Mr. Gyorgy Sandor in Caracas playing his monumental version of Marozzek dances transcribed for piano), but since I could listen his notable Cello Sonata, I was aware about his grandness in this field.
This remarkable soloist LLuis Claret, has achieved a colossal dimension on Europe and some reduced portions of the American geography. His phrasing is superb, gifted of clear intonation and exquisite lyricism.
And I go still further; until this date, possibly this version be the most expressive and idiomatic available in the market.
Don't miss this fabulous (and hard to get) solvent performance!
