"I thought the song playing during the wedding scene would be on the soundtrack; however it was not. I heard the beat on the rapper "The Game's" 300 Bars and Runnin' underground cd. It is on a song called "Olivia." However after further research I found that the actual song on the movie is called " Family Reunion" from Jill Scott and it's on her second cd "Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds, Vol. 2""
Disappointing

"I saw the movie and loved it and the way the music was woven throughout. As a result, I couldn't wait for the soundtrack. What a disappointment! I was looking for the song Brian was playing in his jeep while on the way to Kenya's house and the song played during their wedding scene--NEITHER is on the soundtrack.
I loved, loved, loved "Seconds of Pleasure" and since the other songs weren't on the soundtrack--I just bought Van Hunt's album and surprise--what a great artist he is! I just want to know who the artists are for the two songs that I wanted but are not included. Hats off to Wendy and Lisa--but their songs were best DURING the movie--not for the cd."
Something new to the soundtrack industry!

"Do not listen to Moody! This soundtrack is a gift! Ths songs aren't too great but the score is! Most of the songs are romance songs, or mostly dealing with romance. i know there aren't that aren't some songs that weren't in the movie on this soundtrack, but go for it. Great soundtrack album!
Brazilian Jazzaholic! | CALIFORNIA | 06/06/2006

"Maybe I'm just a little biased since "Something New" is one of my favorite movies, but I really do like the soundtrack album all on its own. It's a really cool mix of different musical styles, from lounge/neo-soul, to reggae/dancehall and reggaeton, rap, and old skool funk/R&B. But what really made me have to cop this album was the standout track "Seconds of Pleasure" (Van Hunt), which played during that sexalicous "pedicure scene" in the movie. I bought the soundtrack album mainly for this song, and winded up loving the entire thing. Not to mention that it introduced me to Van Hunt's incredible music (I just bought both of his albums)! This is also a great album to work out to - mainly uptempo/groovy tracks at the beginning, with the relaxing piano scores at the end for cooldown & stretching, etc. The only reason I didn't give this one 5 stars was that "Family Reunion" (Jill Scott) and the Moroccan track from the movie were not included on the album. Other than those minor issues, I would recommend the "Something New" soundtrack album."
Great movie equally good soundtrack

"I just saw "Something New" and I loved it.
The music selections fit the scenes perfectly.
For the person who was inquiring about the Morroccan song
in the beginning of the movie, it can be found on the
Putomayo label on the CD "From Cairo to Casablanca".
It's called Ya Rayah by Rachid Taha....
It's too bad it wasn't included in the soundtrack."
