"Fine playing of solo baroque violin with amazing counter melodies achieved by remarkable technique. The sound of a true baroque instrument was apparently a shock to a reviewer who seems to be only familiar with modern violins, but the sound was true and right. He also mentioned that "she cannot keep time". She is not playing Souza nor Ellington. Nor Scarlatti nor Vivaldi. The reviewer needs to listen to some baroque solo lute to get an idea of the pulse of non-orchestral baroque playing.
Superb!"

"For this recording, Pine plays a 1770 Nicola Gagliano violin that is a genuine rarity - a great instrument that was never modernized so it retained the sound the maker intended. The tone of the instrument is lush and warm and the baroque playing of Rachel Barton Pine is exceptional. The reviewer who gave one star should have his ears or audio equipment or both tested."
