Album DescriptionThis monk was no stranger to worldly joys: in his cembalo suites, Antonio Francisco Soler made the keys dance a veritable flamenco. Davide Cabassi is a highly esteemed virtuoso and finalist of the prestigious G. B. Viotti and Van Cliburn competitions. In his interpretation of Soler's famous Fandango and several master sonatas, Cabassi confidently transforms brilliant cembalo music into the brilliant sound of a modern grand piano. Davide Cabassi's debut CD for Arte Nova, Dancing with the Orchestra, featured works by Bartók, De Falla, Ravel, and Stravinsky and was released worldwide in the spring of 2006. He won the Italian Critics Award for "best debut recording of the season." This season of 2007/2008, Cabassi records "Brahms Concerti" and the Schumann Concerto with the Haydn Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Gustav Kuhn for Col legno, and produces Pictures and Escaping on Endeavour Classics in the US.
