A crafty blend of 80s Euro-synth and punk edge
The Frontier Brothers latest e.p. Solar Power Struggle! is a crafty blend of 80s Euro-synth and punk edge. Its a blending thats becoming more popular, and The Frontier Brothers are leading the pack. The second e.p. from the Texas trio blends multiple influences to craft some of the more original sounds of the year. The end result is an eclectic group of songs that present new frontiers for the audience.
Jump Blues starts off Solar Power Struggle! with a light synthesizer gently coaxing us into a gentle head bobbing. When lead singer Marshall Galactics raspy voice kicks in, The airiness disappears and were treated to a punk explosion reminiscent of the Dead Milkmen and Flaming Lips. The Future Is starts with the feel of an early Billy Joel song. Its all piano and harmonica, but kicks up a few notches with the addition of guitar and cymbals. Again Galactics unconventional voice adds lots of gravitas.
Listening to Solar Power Struggle! gives you the impression that the trio love to make music. Their sound builds over each song and The Dream Collector takes all the energy built so far and expels it out into the world allowing How Do You Know That Its Real? to start fresh. HDYKTIR slows things down a bit, lulling you into a false sense of comfort before ending things on the hyper-active T.E.S.S. Technicalelectronicsupersonicrobot. Rocking out in grand scale, The Frontier Brothers give it their all, and it should have you up on your feet dancing away in all its 80s inspired grandeur.
Party punk has a new face with The Frontier Brothers. Their five song e.p. should be sought out and listened to repeatedly. This is the second e.p. from The Frontier Brothers
