CD Reviews

Soundtrack for todays society!!!
Greg Love | new york | 08/22/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"wow, this cd blew me away!!! after hearing other reviews, of how all it was, was another zao/(old)embodyment, i wasn't sure if this cd was worth it, but i bought it anyway, because, both zao and embodyment are two of my favorite bands, and societys finest had to be good, if they sounded like them. well, i placed the disc in my cd player, and listened to the opening track "1955". it began with a phone dialing, then ringing, then being picked up, and you hear a distorted guitar riff being played, sounded really cool, then it stopped, and then, it just went berzerk. the singer Joshua Ashworth, has one of the most awesome, if not the coolest voice in metal/hardcore music, very similar to Kris McCaddons vocals from embodyment, but better. The music on this cd is just insane, in your face metalcore, and it is HEAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just listen to the first track, and you'll know what i mean. Also some very inciteful lyrics, the lyrics do have meaning, and make sense. And also, track 5 called Knife Fight, has a very cool melodic emo breakdown part, with really nice singing. Overall, this is the best cd to be released on Solidstate since embodyments Embrace the Eternal, or Zao's Where blood and fire bring rest. this cd is insane!!!"
Metal For The Nation

"This CD is very tight. These guys have a very hardcore sound plus lungbutter screaming. I would say it is like the old Embodyment and ZAO (from SolidStateRecords) meshed together, but sometimes with a slight hint of punk drums. On one song the main vocalist is screaming his soul out while a clean vocalist smoothes out the whole endevour making it very complex yet it will make you cry. The only downside is that there is not enough variation in some of the songs themselves, there is much repitition, but it does add to there style. All of the songs from this band all has its own individual style that completely matches this bands name: the Society's Finest. This still definitly deserves a 5.5 star rating. I'd say this is a great purchase, no matter what kind of metal you are into."
