Better than the original

"I don't think it's necessarily a good thing when remixes done by other bands are superior to the original thing, yet that's what seems to have happened with SMP's Hacked. Now, I didn't particularly mind the originals on Terminal and Ultimatum--it's just that Hacked seems better. The album retains the aggressive, industrial rap sound, yet at the same time, it seems an odd choice for Invisible Records. Invisible always made me think more of experimental backbeats than cyberpunk, but I guess the label is becoming a bit more all-encompassing in scope. Whereas Terminal has guitars in the forefront, Hacked is predominantly electronic. The hip hop element is also pushed to the front, which is sure to confuse fans of both industrial dance and rap. Perhaps it will create a new niche."
