Disc is very clean. I have only listened to this CD a couple of times. I take good care of my CDs.

This gave them their name....

"If you've ever heard songs like "All Star" and "Then the Morning Comes", you've probably wondered "Why are they called Smash Mouth? They're a good-time pop music band." Well, pick up Fush Yu Mang and you'll see why the name of their band is "Smash Mouth". This CD is VERY different than Astro Lounge, I like alot of others, picked this CD up because of their amazingly catchy music on "Astro Lounge", but this CD is full of punk rock music with the exception of "Walkin' on the Sun". Songs like "All Star" "Can't Get Enough of You Baby" and "Then the Morning Comes" were done by the band because of how successful "Walkin' on the Sun" was, so they continued the formula of that song with "Astro Lounge", but now they have another CD out called "East Bay Sessions", which continues the formula of "Fush Yu Mang". Anyways, there are some good songs on here, the CD isn't completely bad. Of course, we all know "Walkin' on the Sun is the CD's best, but you'll also love "The Fonz" because that song isn't too heavy punk rock..."
Good, but not for fans of Astro Lounge

"This CD is full of punk rock music, with the exception of Smash Mouth's hit "Walkin' on the Sun", which in my opinion should have been on Astro Lounge instead, because many people are buying this CD just to get that song. You won't find any hits at all similar to "All Star" or "Then the Morning Comes" or "Can't Get Enough of You Baby" on this CD, if that's what you're expecting, skip this CD. But hey, if you like Walkin' on the Sun, get it! Punk rock music lovers will love this, pop music lovers won't."
This is the best Smash Mouth album that there is so far.

"Smash Mouth's Fush Yu Mang is a great album. It is a great sounding punk and ska sounding type album, with a few other styles thrown in. The following is what I thought of each song off of this Smash Mouth album.
1. Flo - This is a great album opener and is a good fast song. 5/5
2. Beer Goggles - This is another fast and funny song. 4/5
3. Walkin' On The Sun - This is the best Smash Mouth song and a classic retro sounding hit. 5/5
4. Let's Rock - This is another fast song about rocking. 4/5
5. Heave-Ho - This is another good song. It is about your landlord getting mad and kicking you out. 5/5
6. The Fonz - This is a funny song about the Fonz from Happy Days of course. 4/5
7. Pet Names - This is one of my favorite songs on this album, along with Walkin' On The Sun. 5/5
8. Padrino - This is a weird sounding song about the mob. 3/5
9. Nervous In The Alley - Another favorite that got some radio play in their hometown of San Jose, California before Walkin' On The Sun got really big. 5/5
10. Disconnect The Dots - This is another good song. Not as good as some other songs on this album though. 4/5
11. Push - This is another good fast song off of this album. 5/5
12. Why Can't We Be Friends? - This is a hit cover song of the War classic. Despite it being a hit, it is very repetitive and goes on way too long repeat Why Can't We Be Friends? for almost the last two minutes of this song. 3/5
I only wish that Smash Mouth continued with the style that they had on this album. Their second album Astro Lounge is good too, but not as good as this. And the albums after Astro Lounge are not nearly as good as the first two. Let's hope that they return with their next album sounding more like this one or even Astro Lounge.
I hope my review of the Smash Mouth album Fush Yu Mang helped you.

There's a better Fonz

"Don't get the explicit version. The edited version is so much better. The edited version of The Fonz is sooo much better. It has altered and cleaner lyrics. The edited song actually is very funny. Something the explicit version isn't. Also, the edited song is the one featured is a single(one that got radio airplay)."
Fun and upbeat, and not necessarily for the whole family

"With each new album, Smash Mouth's sound has slipped farther and farther away from the sweet-as-poison eclecticism displayed on this album. Greg Camp's songwriting is in full force. His clever poetry jumps out at you with its wit and ability. It's neither too dumbed down or too pseudo-smart, and while the subject of discussion isn't nearly as world-weary and downtrodden as what may be popular in punk and rock today, the formula works, as far as I'm concerned. This is not an album for those connoisseurs of overlapping textures, brilliant guitar riffs, or dead serious socio-political agendas. It's definitely not downbeat, but it's not quite upbeat, either, which would probably be my only complaint - Smash Mouth doesn't know where they want to be with this album. However, the space where they're hovering is undeniably appealing if you can get past their somewhat happy-clappy image.Aside from the '60s retro and rock organs (which would later become the core of their music) of "Walkin' On the Sun," the entire album is catchy, full throttle surf-punk that makes liberal use of ska chords, with a couple of slow rockers here and there. In fact, "Walkin' On the Sun" feels incredibly out of place sitting in the middle of it all. All in all, this is their best CD, because it dared to go places where the more mainstream Smash Mouth would never go now. The fact that Fush Yu is the only Smash Mouth CD with both an explicit lyrics version and an edited version says a lot. Some highlights include "Flo," which relates a story about a lesbian, the desperate, Beach Boys surf rock of "Beer Goggles," the angry-yet-hilarious bitterness of "Pet Names," and probably the most serious track on the whole album, "Nervous in the Alley." "The Fonz" is slow and churning, and probably the most 'warped' of the songs, while rockers like "Padrino" showcase Smash Mouth's eclecticism and humor quite nicely.Fush Yu Mang pushes the envelope as far as the band itself is concerned. Far superior to any pop-punk band you can name today, it's a nice one to pull out to take a break from the monotony of Britney Spears, Sum 41, Blink 182, Creed, and, unfortunately enough, Smash Mouth itself. Astro Lounge has some good creative moments, and a couple of gems, but I've been too afraid to pick up their latest stuff. Hopefully the new album will take a hit in sales and they'll return to the good ol' pre-"All Star" days when pleasing the masses didn't seem to be nearly as important."
