His own man

"Uniquely different, Slim Harpo played the blues and sang songs in his own style which has not been copied by others. Eric Clapton sang "Rock me Baby" with B.B. King on his compilation record ""Deuces Wild." Once in a while, one of the songs he brought to the charts comes out but it's usually done in a different arrangement. I've heard others perform "King Bee" and "Still Rainin' In My Heart." And Lou Anne Barton sang "Te-ni-nee-ni-nu with some success.
This is a very comprehensive collection of some of his hits as well as lesser known songs. He also never overworks the mouth harp. Instead, he plays just a little in parts but mostly sings with feeling. I feel as though he may slip through the cracks and become an unknown in another decade. It would be a shame to see a dedicated bluesman who brought his own style to the genre to fade away. If you like R&B, buy this Slim Harpo CD. I think you'll love it!"
