Slayer is the premier thrash metal band on the planet. Since 1983 the band has defined a genre and thrived where many have come and gone. Consistently releasing acclaimed albums and delivering brutal live shows, Slayer is ... more »a revered and respected fixture in the hard rock/metal landscape now and forever. World Painted Blood is the most vital and exciting metal release in recent memory. "I'm a huge Slayer fan. This album is great, even though it's pretty short, clocking in at under 40 minutes. All Slayer fans will enjoy the album, but no one should buy the "Deluxe Edition". The DVD contains a short film called "Playing With Dolls" that is truly terrible. Incredibly amateur film making. For those who are buying the deluxe version to hear the non-album track "Atrocity Vendor", all you get is about a 30 second clip of the song, not the entire thing. The song was omitted from the album, and is simply not available yet. All the videos in the 20 minute film follow this structure, just 30-45 second clips of Slayer's new songs woven in with this horrible film. There are no complete videos or anything, nor any extra bonus features.
Like I said, I love Slayer, and I really like the new album, but you would be much better off buying the standard version for much less money (unless you just want the cool case). Trust me, the 20 minute film is not worth your extra dollars. I expected much more, which is why I gave this product 4 out 5."
Pure, Unadulterated Thrash

"Slayer have once again shown why they are the best. This album is better than Christ Illusion. It's more focused, more aggressive, and more sinister.
It's all here: All-out speed, chugging/moshable grooves, insane guitar leads, Araya's timeless vocals (both gruff and spoken/softer), and the magnificent drum work of the inimitable Dave Lombardo. All of that is meshed together in such a razor-sharp manner, that you can't help but be blown away.
As for the extra DVD...eh. Not such a big deal.
If you've EVER liked Slayer, get this CD now. You will not be dissappointed.
Slayer is, without a doubt, the most consistent and reliable Metal band of their generation.

"This is one of the best Slayer recordings. There are actual songs here and a little diversity in the songwriting. It flies by on the player because it is that good from front to back. Buy it!!"
Another average album

"There's really nothing interesting here. Ok you have new Slayer album, like in every 4 years, or so.
The thing that irritate me the most is the manner of 'singing', which is rather spitting words with speed close to punk/hc bands. 80% songs here have fast rhythm, and it isn't something at what Slayer is really good these days, these are just average tracks. After 3 tracks you can't really distinguish track 8th from 9th. Best track here is not surprisingly rather slow, 'Beauty Through Order". Sound production is decent, but again you would expect something more from Slayer, I suppose..
Not even close to 'God hate us all'."
Great album. Don't by deluxe DVD version!

"The album is really impressive! If you don't like it then your probably not playing it loud enough! It has a raw sound with classic attributes, brutal political and religious statements. Very aggressive in the lyrics blended with blazing, shredding, screaming guitars and Lord Dave blasting the perfection only he can. Don't buy the deluxe version. The little film is annoying and doesn't reflect the album in any way. I would've loved a "making of" but got this lame waste of time. Some people and their art. Hard to believe Slayer approved it. They may not have. Even Dez of Devil Driver didn't know what picture the last ablum had on the back. He was smiling. Any way. Buy the CD only and crank it! There's supposed to be 4 different covers available but I have heard no info if the songs will vary. Great historical thrash by the legendary F*****N SLAYER!"
