A Decent Collection with Built-In Defects

"There is no reason for this cd to be so expensive. Sure, it's a decent collection of first wave Jamaican ska, but there are others on the market, and more extensive ones at that. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, there are built-in defects on the disc. On track 12, for example, John Holt's classic "O.K. Fred", there is a skip at around 47 seconds so that in the line "She said, 'like the way that you do it...'" the word "the" is all but obliterated, as if there were a scratch on the CD. I ordered the CD twice to be sure, one copy used the other new and sealed, and both "skipped" in the same place. This means that the defect was built into the CD, perhaps an error with the master recording used or some other such flaw. This being the case, there is no reason that anyone in their right mind should be willing to pay between $64.00 and $112.00 for a new copy of this CD or between $23.00 and $64.00 for a used one. Thank goodness I got my copies when used CDs were going for $5.00 and up and new ones could still be had for $11.00! Buyer beware, especially at these prices."
