Synopsis

Product Description
Six years since their last critically acclaimed release, Para Gloria, Sisters Morales are back with their newest cross-over offering Talking to the River. Produced by Los Lobos' Steve Berlin, Talking to the River is Sisters Morales' most musical outing ever, blending textures and tones with sounds that influenced Lisa and Roberta Morales as they grew up in Tucson, Arizona. Often referred to as 'The Female Los Lobos', Talking to the River features a variety of sounds and textures. Throughout the album you will hear the influences of rock, country, blues, folk, and of course, Latin. World Goes Round is a nod to Neil Young. Watcha Gonna Do About It tips their hat to The Beatles and La Mucura is a straight up traditional Mexican rocker. Sisters Morales have been touring the country for nearly two decades with three additional releases to their credit.

Sisters Morales - Talking to the River

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Incredible CD. Their music has a depth that can't be described in words - but I'll try!

The Sisters are exceptional songwriters. You'll find nothing trendy or that can be dated on any of their work. Yes, I'm saying it, they are timeless. The lead track 'You're Losing Me to No One' was penned in 1984. It sounds as good today as it will in another 24 years - you can hold me to that.

They have the vocal and musical skills to match the songwriting. Whether solo or harmonizing, the vocals of Lisa and Roberta are stellar. They have rich voices with perfect control and tone. The guitar player, David Spencer, is phenomenal. Besides being incredibly versatile, his solos are flat out mesmerizing.

Their music defies classification. They can't be forced into one nice neat little category like rock, country, singer/songwriter, blues, folk, Latin, traditional Mexican, etc. The only category they can be put in is 'great music'. The songs are of different styles but it's their unique style and musical sensibility that tie it all together seamlessly.

I talk too much. Go listen to them. If you like them, go see them live to really see just how good they are. You can't really begin to understand what they are capable of until you've seen them five or more times. Hard to explain but you'll get it if you see them live multiple times.

Incredible CD, incredible band. Go listen."

"The Sisters Morales have long been a staple in the Texas music scene. This CD is a powerful gift to their fans. Their unique blend of rock, Mexican corridos, and a woman's view of the world speaks meaningfully to the perils of relationships, the pain of life changes, and the power of love. The musicality of their work and the soulfulness of their lyrics make them appealing to rockers with a few miles on their odometers. Listening to the River is a tasty treat!"
