"Misleading title... These cuts are not the original recordings (with only a couple of exceptions). Instead, these are mostly live takes, and not very good ones at that. Poor liner notes to boot. The sound quality is pretty bad too."
Disappointing

"Given the amount of duplication in the Sir Douglas CDs that are available, I was less-than-excited about the prospect of yet another CD. I bought it and was stunned that many of the cuts were live. So, there was a pleasant surprise regarding the prospect of a live album of their hits. In fact, I loved the first cut, but the sound quality was terrible. Also, it wasn't the best performance by such as great band. Essentially, it is a legal boot leg recording, so buyer beware."
Texas Tornadoes

"Despite the title of this album, I'm 99% sure that this is actually mostly a live recording of the Texas Tornadoes (formed in 1989 by Doug Sahm with ex-SDQ member Augie Myers), not the Sir Douglas Quintet. With that in mind, this CD has some choice tracks, esp. (Is Anybody Going To) San Antone, Who Were You Thinking Of and Texas Tornadoes. As a Texas expat living in New York, this is the album I play most when I'm homesick. I should say I play the tracks I like. There are some stinkers on here, hence the 3 stars."

"If you are a hardcore fan of the late and great Doug Sahm, this cd is a "must get".The cuts are live and the renditions of the songs are the best I have heard.Extremely soulful. You really feel like cranking it up loud.Gracious amigos."
