CD Reviews

A little taste of Euphoria
Anthony Morelli | Montreal, Canada | 04/12/2003

"My title for the review says it all.
This is reminiscing of Delerium, Enigma, Enya, and Ofra Haza. Single Gun Theory's music is at times, Middle-Eastern influenced. It transports you into another world. When I first heard the track "Fall", I knew I had to buy the CD. All the songs pull you into the music, and offer intense pleasure to the ears. This particular track ("Fall") sounds like something as an opening track to a Delerium album. You can envision an Arabic temple nearby, and where there are women bearing water jugs and children running and playing happily. I can taste, smell and hear everything in a landscape like that. The 3 member band hails from Australia. You wouldn't think so, once hearing the Middle-Eastern arrangements.
By the way... all the music on the CD was recorded in Vancouver, Canada. Here is the tracklist:Transmission,
Fall,
The sea of core experience,
I've been dying,
Decimated,
My estranged wife,
Phenomena,
Metaphysical,
The point beyond which something will happen,
Thetan,
Motherland,
Still closest to my heartFunny how I always get to liking a CD after 4 or 5 years or more, have passed since its release. I have only heard of this band since a month ago. Was hooked on the mp3's that I downloaded of this CD. Liked the album so much I decided it was time to buy it last week. What a great buy! This CD is totally worth the money.Any CD from Nettwerk Productions is usually worth having. This one holds strong in my ever-growing eclectic CD collection.Hope this review is helpful."
From Start to End A Complete Work of Art

"CALMING! This is one of my favorite albums ever - I bought this when the album was first released in Australia, listened to it to death, gave it to a friend... then bought it again because I missed it. Now, many years on from its release, it is still a great listen from start to end. The songs fit together like jigsaw pieces, feeding into each other with smooth perfection. The various verbal entries and spiritual references match the mood of the album perfectly. I recommend it highly! Thank you also to 'A Little Taste of Euphoria' reviewerer for the interesting background on the album. A beautiful album to listen to at any time - the only thing bad about it is that it is not longer..."
Phenomenal

"This is my favorite album of the past 10 years, and the finest album of the 90s. I first saw them back up Sara McLachlan in 1994 and while I wasn't impressed with the sound quality in the concert, the songs were intriguing. I bought the album and it became imprinted in my mind within a week. For 6 months, I almost listened to nothing else. This album made a HUGE impression on me. My favorite line from the album, originally from Fripp's Exposure: "It is impossible to achieve the aim without suffering."
