"Although the liner notes of this superb CD tell us that the Washington Men's Camerata's new Music Director, Frank Albinder, comes to the Camerata from a recent post as Associate Director of Chanticleer (the Nation's finest professional chorus), one does not need to read those notes in order to determine that something very special is going on in Washington, DC with this extraordinary ensemble. Indeed, one need only listen to the astounding blend and intonation that Mr. Albinder has brought to this larger men's chorus in "Lo How a Rose 'er Blooming" (it will send chills down your spine!). This CD is pure magic! It combines the irresistably creamy smooth blend and scrupulous intonation of a group like Chanticleer with the sheer power and richness that only a superb full size men's chorus can deliver (who says you can't have it all?). The selections include gorgeous Brass playing by the Washington Symphonic Brass (a professional ensemble including brass musicians from the finest East Coast Orchestras) and some rollicking percussion by Nathan Lassell (in the Nigerian Carol "Betelehemu"). All in all, this beautifully recorded CD is sure to please any lover of Christmas choral music. Bravo to the Washington Men's Camerata!"
