"A Web search yielded very little about the performers here: Gil Sharon, violin. Yuri Gandelsman, viola, and the Amati chamber Orch. Are they Israeli despite the Italian name? Maksed by obscurity, the two soloists deliver a slightly period-flavored Sinfonia concertante K. 364 that's a pure delight, full of energy and exuberance to beat all but a handful of big name recordings. The orchestral playaing is forward and equally enthusiastic, which isn't often the case. both soloists play with real personality, and although it seems shocking that they cut the soulful Andante down to under ten minutes from the usual eleven plus, the music sounds more natural.
the filler is the delightful K. 203 Serenade, which has a prominent violin obligatto part. It, too, is played with high spirits. In all, I can't imagine better Mozart at twice the price."
