"Ruben Blades politically and daily life oriented songs along with the son of Willie's Trombon captivated the late 70's with this release, a copy of which I'm proud to own. This album, which held the undisputed record as the most popular salsa album for more than 13 years (until the early 90's), is still a subject of enjoyment, even for today's salseros, its most popular song being "Pedro Navaja."The songs are not only powerful and energetic, but also speak to the soul with a much prose and poetry, but most of all, they speak the truth as it was then and as it has been since its release.Siembra is an all time favorite of us salseros who lived through the 70's and experienced first hand the power of Fania All Stars, and the salsa explosion it launched. But, even if you're a modern day salsero, in Siembra you will find music to dance until the soles of your dance shoes require replacement and songs with a message that has not changed in 30 years, nor will it change in 30 more."
