Concerto Companion !!!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Looking for a companion CD for your favortie recording of the Sibelius violin concerto? The inclusion of the complete Humoresques and Scene de Ballet on this disk are uncommon so if youre anything like me and craving more Sibelius violin material, this is the one to get! Such warmth and beauty in the music played here, so relaxing and full of romance!Dong-Suk Kang studied at Julliard and Curtis with Ivan Galamian and had great success in the Queen Elizabeth and Carl Flesch violin competitions. Kang is one of the most under rated violinists around and here he displays again great phrasing and an awesome tone here, he has yet to disapoint me in all honesty. There is great emotion and warmth is his playing.I have only owned this a few days and it is already one of my favorite cds so make sure to put this Sibelius on your syllablus!"
Very beautiful

"I've been starting to grow fond of Sibelius's music ever since I bought "Lemminkainen Suite," "Violin Concerto," and "En Saga." All of which are from the label BIS. And the pieces from violin and orchestra are also quite dazzling. The "Humoresques" sound very relaxing, and it increases your imagination if you're a writer of any sort. "Serenades" and "Two Pieces for Violin and Orchestra" sound very good, too. "Ballet Scene" and "Overture in E Major" aren't fillers at all: they are purely memorable music from the greatest Finnish composer of all time. Dong-Suk Kang is a brilliant violinist, and it definitely shows on this CD. Neeme Jarvi and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra are nothing short of amazing.
