"I bought this cd on a friend's suggestion. The first time I heard it, I almost threw it away. I turned the player off and went to pick my daughter up at the babysitter's. Upon return, I turned the cd back on, forgetting what was in. My 3 year old daughter's response was incredible. She was mesmerized. She actually started dancing to the music (first time to ever do anything like that) So.... I listened to it a few more times and realized how pure the tones are. These singers are chosen at a young age and undergo extensive training. The results are worth listening to!!
This has now become one of our favorite cds... I highly recommend."

"Voices from the Distant Steep is one of my favorite recordings (it really is). For the western ear, especially those that haven't yet experienced Tuvan throat singing before, may be in for a somewhat jarring surprise (at least at first). With repeated listenings, however, I suspect that many will become enthralled by the raw beauty of the music and discover that there is so much we can learn to appreciate. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys discovering the beauty of music from diverse cultures."
