Early composition holds up

"In response to the below reviewer, I would have to disagree - Symphony No. 3 has alot of beautiful passages in it - the opening alone is worth listening to. It doesn't have the weight of his later works, but it fits in fine with the rest of his works - sort of an optimistic opening (along with Symphony 1) to the darker works of his later career.
I will agree, however, that Symphony #2 is largely a waste of time. I mean, if you are a Shost purist, you will want it for your collection, but it is almost completely discordant and tuneless - just a mush of what sounds like every instrument playing whatever they want at the moment.
While 3 is worth owning, and it would be nice to own 2 and 3 together, I wouldn't pay more than $10 for the disc, out of print or not!"
