"With the passing of Koko Taylor, Shirley Johnson stands at the head of the line to assume the throne. This is my first exposure to Johnson having only recently learned of her through Living Blues magazine. I feel ashamed to be such a johnny-come-lately to this wonderful talent; what took me so long to find her especially since I am from IL ("slightly" south of Chicago) and she has played a steady 17-year gig in Chicago. Johnson gives you blues, soul, and heartbreak (You Shouldn't Have Been There/I'm Gonna Find Me A Lover) on this recording and you can feel every bit of her joy and anguish over losing a man and telling him to take a hike. Johnson is also backed by a crack band of excellent musicians. I think it is amazing that in a day of a gazillion faceless, soon to be gone "indie" bands, that such strong music can be put out, but heard by so few. Help change that by buying Blues Attack and giving Johnson the recognition she surely deserves. I'm going to immediately get her first record "Killer Diller." Help fuel a strong Blues Attack!"
