A Brilliant CD Falls in the Mountains and No One Hears It

"In the summer of 2000, Colorado's Sherri Jackson released this "Catalyst" CD. It was among the very best of that year. Then, for lack of being able to get airplay, Jackson chose to end a career that only the fortunate ever knew existed. If only one hundredth of the promotional machine behind Janet Jackson had been put behind non-family Sherri Jackson, the cream would have risen somewhere nearer the top. Unlike on her also-great self-titled CD, on "Catalyst" Jackson plays down her R&B violin and trades a little funk for a enough more vocal range to cut through the coldest heart. And, while heartbreak was expressed in cathartic anger previously, it's expressed here in a fashion more like Dylan's "Time out of Mind". Yet, unlike that Dylan effort, Jackson at times bounces trama off a beat that is joyous to follow. Jackson's first CD was entitled "Moments in Denial". I still find myself in denial about the existence of her musical career. If there is justice in the arts, somehow the career of the more talented Jackson will resurface and give Janet's sampling a much-needed rest."
My favorite cd of 2000

"Sherri Jackson is the best local (Denver area) artist that I've heard. This is a great cd--more rock than r&b. Thoughtful lyrics with upbeat music."
