"11 of the songs on this CD are on the double-disc Shanghai Lounge Divas volume 1, with all the original songs as bonus. The other one is an urelated bad remix of Bowie's China girl."

"There are many creative Eastern mixmasters--such as DJ Cheb I Sabbah, who breathed new life into Hindu devotional music in "Shri Durga" & "Krishna Lila",or Karsh Kale, whose techno music meets Bollywood&his Indian homeland.
This compilation,"The Sex,the City, the Music:Shanghai" lacks the native touch in remixing '30s,40s,and 50s songs from Shanghai.Instead of having a new Chinese take on their own music,it's cheesy 70s synthesizers meet old recordings from the EMI vault. There's nothing new, innovative or particularly exotic in this album."Wandering Songstress" is the closest to native Chinese music, and "Stop Singing" has traditional instruments;"Waiting 4 U"&the remix of David Bowie's "China Girl" are the few successful East/West blends.
For those seeking sexy sounds from the East,go for Putumayo's "Asian Lounge","Asian Groove"&"Music from the Tea Lands" instead. This album has the bass&synth-heavy,almost hip-hop sound they play at clothing stores aimed at teenagers.Instead of being sexy music from the other side of the Pacific,"Sex,City,Music:Shanghai" is like bad indigestion after consuming too much MSG."
