Album DescriptionUK release. In October 2000, Matti and Janne come up with an idea of a band playing slow, dreamlike material. That winter, some songs are written and recorded, and as they need someone to vocalize their words scribbled down in distress, they ask Mika to try it out. Mikas voice fits the music perfectly and in autumn 2001 this trio gives birth to the first ShamRain release. Pieces EP sees the light of day the next February. In 2002 more songs are written and the first permanent guitarist, Kalle, joins the band. Later the band signs a deal with Watch Me Fall Records. The recordings of a debut album, 'Empty World Excursion', take place during the summer and autumn 2003. By this time, the bands music has evolved into a combination of dark melancholic rock and slow, ethereal elements. The following year, the band records a few unused songs written for EWE and a The Cure - cover song. These are released in a The Cure - tribute album and a 7" vinyl, simply called the "ShamRain EP". New songs are written during the spring and summer and in autumn 2004, demo sessions for the 2nd album begin and 13 new songs get recorded. At this time a second guitarist, Mikko, is recruited to enforce the band. The deal with WMF dissolves and a new deal is made with Firebox Records. In December recordings of a new album finally get started at Akun Tehdas and the sessions stretch to last almost 4 months, before getting the final touch at FinnVox studios. The album is titled 'Someplace Else' and released in June 2005. It includes some new elements, still being a logical sequel to EWE. And as 'Empty World Excursion', 'Someplace Else' also gains a lot of great feedback, including many 'full points' reviews. Autumn 2005 - Shamrain records demos of new songs, that together with unused songs from the 'Someplace Else' - sessions are to form the next SR -release, 'Deeper into the night' - MCD. During the winter ShamRain records the MCD and finally plays it's first gigs. This newest work is revealing a ShamRain more uptempo than ever, whilst maintaining the quiet and slow moments that make their sound unique. Firebox Records. 2006.
