Shakira - The One

"This is a review for the cd single "The One" from Shakira. *Track 1 - The One (Glen's Mix) 3:45 - This is the version that is in the music video, w/ the "Orchestra" at the beginning. *Track 2 - The One (Album Version) 3:44 - Same version thats on the album. *Track 3 - Whenever, Wherever (Hammad Belly Dance Version) 3:47 - This is a one of the better remixes of "W/W" it has good percussion, nice strings, and great horns. This isnt a dance remix like the "Tracy Young/Todd Terry/Nic Mercy" remixes its more of a "Reworking". *Track 4 - Te Aviso, Te Anuncio (Tango) (Gigi Dagostino Tango Remix) 6:10 - This is the same remix as the "Gigi Dagostino Psico Remix Edit" found on the "Objection" single. Its a good remix of "TA/TA" but not as good as the "Jellybean Remix" This remix has a [rave] feel to it, it has the Accordion Intro from the album version through out the song, it gets a bit annoying after a while. (I used to hate this mix but it grew on me) **Overall, if you are a shakira fan or just like groovy tunes, this cd is a must."

"Shakira's 4th and last single off her English debut, multi-platinum album, "Laundry Service". This new single is full of pure emotion and Shakira's vocals are great. The instrumentation of the new single is fantastic and this CD Single is full of great extras.1. Glen's Mix - Basically, the "Video Version". Glen Ballard mixed the beginning of the song to make it sound a little more "pop", instead of the lone guitar, added percussion and a string section. It's basically the album version with a new Intro. Still - amazing! - 5 Stars2. Album Version - The original version of the track. It's full of great percussion, electric guitar and vocals. Shakira delivers real power and emotion into this track and it comes out just perfect! - 5 Stars3. Whenever, Wherever (Hammad Belly Dance Remix) - One of the many remixes of Shakira's ground-breaking debut single. This one, is actually good. It should've replaced the terrifying "Sahara Remix" off the "Washed & Dried" Limited Edition of "Laundry Service. It's full of mystical horns, dramatic strings and a great Arabian groove. It's an awesome remix, definitely worth it! - 5 Stars4. Te Aviso, Te Anuncio (Tango) (Gigi D'Agostino Tango Remix) - One of the few remixes of the Spanish version of "Objection (Tango)". Gigi's music and instrumentation is phenomenal, but wasn't too big on the vocals. He slowed them down a lot! And, there isn't much vocals to speak of (just the 1st verse and the chorus). It's got great synths & percussion and runs 6:10. It's good, but I was hoping for more vocals. - 4.5 Stars Well, there you have it! Shakira's "The One" CD Single. It's definitely worth the buy! Although the last single off the hit album, hopefully there's more to come from this hot latin-sensation."
