Serie de Oro by Los Shakers
Robert Schotland | Tucson, Az. United States | 08/05/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"This is the only mass-produced compilation by this group and it doesn't give them justice. Los Shakers were a south american band that not only followed in the Beatles footsteps, they were the "Unofficial Other Fab Four", yet they still had originality. They were music idols throughout South America, but ignored by the rest of the World. After all, why settle for a south american copy when you can have the "veddy british original". That doesn't mean oldies compilers like Rhino or Sundaze should ignore Los Shakers. There's more justified 32-track compilation called "Por Favor". When it comes to getting a copy of that cd, lets just say it might be easier to see the Stones Live.

"
Great band, great songs, ok compilation...

"Los Shakers had an amazing run of great, self-penned tunes in the vein of A Hard Day's Night or Help! (or even Revolver), but this compilation doesn't really have any of the great stuff (with the exception of a couple of tunes.) Buy the "Por Favor!" compilation on Ace Records/Big Beat, or hunt down the original albums (all 3 Original Latin American albums are excellent!)"
