Synopsis

Product Description
Seun Kuti, born in 1982, is the third son to be recognised by Afro legend Fela Kuti. Apart from the erotic Fire Dance, every track on this CD is a pulsing, ravaging political pamphlet against the corruption and carelessness of African leaders. On this album we are left in no doubt of Seun's credentials as the worthy heir of Fela Kuti's hardline militancy. With the same energetic and booming voice as Fela, Seun has added his own raging rhythm clearly influenced by rap (he cites Chuck D, Dr.Dre and Eminem among his musical heroes), but this album clearly stakes its claim as a flag-bearer of contemporary Afrobeat, with a distinctly traditional aspect.

It's not surprising Seun's band sounds so good, as two thirds of the Egypt 80 musicians served under Fela himself. Seun can even count Barack Obama as a fan, as it was only with Obama's direct intervention that the band were able to gain visa's for their first US tour.

"SEUN KUTI in his first afro beat effort shows that he is by far the only true representative of his father s FELA KUTI heritage .NO OTHER artist till now came so close to FELAs musical value like his son and it is definetely a big surprise to ADMIT THIS if you are familiar with FELAs music .AWESOME AFROBEAT MUSIC from seun and his band giving promises that something VERY SPECIAL IS ABOUT TO SHINE FROM NOW ON IN THE HORIZON OF AFROBEAT MUSIC .I really do not give even the sligthest chance to anyone afrobeat artist WORLDWIDE to beat SEUN from now on.FELAs SPIRIT IS BACK STRONGER THAN EVER AT ITS UTMOST ."

"Two words: Mosquito Song. Complete with sound track of mosquito buzzing lightly and threateningly past you. man, if you have been bitten by mosquitoes, especially the anopheles ones that thrive in Naija, got malaria, and lived to tell about it, then you would love this song. if you haven't then well, you can experience it vicariously :) Seun is also touring North, East and Central Europe, and North America, from May to July 2008. For someone who wishes I could have gone to see Fela perform in the Shrine in the late 80s, this news of Seun's tour is like Christmas in midsummer."
