Sérgio Mendes new album, Magic, was recorded in Los Angeles and Salvador, Bahia with a host of friends and special guests. The album kicks off with the powerful anthem, One Nation, featuring fellow Brazilian Carlinhos Brown, and is a tribute to soccer fans worldwide that was included on the official FIFA World Cup 2014 album. John Legend and will.i.am, old friends of Sérgio, were again at hand to collaborate with Mendes. The modern, pop oriented My My My My Love is Sérgio and Will at their best with an infectious groove. Don t Say Goodbye features John Legend s beautiful lyrics and vocal that will delight fans of both artists. The album also includes a collaboration with Janelle Monae, the haunting Open Your Eyes. The Brazilian guest artists range from legendary to newcomer. Milton Nascimento performs his own composition, Olha A Rua and singer Gracinha Leporace, who is Sérgio s wife, performs on two tracks. The new generation is represented by Maria Gadu, singing her own lyrics on Meu Rio, and Ana Carolina with a touching interpretation of Guinga s Atlantica. Connecting all these songs is the voice of Sérgio Mendes piano, and his arrangements are something that is totally Sérgio always full of life and delivered with a smile.
