"I dont know where Apr keeps coming up with these [early recordings] of Fioretino-this one from 1965-but I am glad they do. The Fiorentino releases have provided the finest pianistic releases of the last decade or more-and this is another stellar release. After listening through the disc once, I thought-man that was one of the best Carnavals I have ever heard and I was glad to see, in the accompanying booklet, the author agreeing that this performance of Carnaval is said to be in the same lineage as Rachmaninov. It really was. This is one of the finest Schumann discs I have heard in as long as I can remember. Fiorentino is, as always, outstanding and the Carnaval is definetely one people should hear. The Kinderszenen is also amazing. Especially the faster numbers such as number three. The Arabeske is similar to his APR remake and we are topped off by the Symphonic Etudes[minues the extra numbers]. It is a heck of a recital and this should be on every pianofans must-have list."
