Superb! Played with warmth and lyricism.

"This is a superior version of Beethoven's famous "Septet," Op. 20, and the lesser known "Sextet," Op. 81b. The Septet was composed around 1799, and was frequently played at concerts along with Beethoven's first symphony. It quickly became one of his most popular compositions -- so popular, in fact, that Beethoven actually came to dislike it! The Gaudier Ensemble plays both chamber pieces with warmth and lyricism, their enjoyment of the music being readily evident throughout the performances. Fast movements are vigorous and fresh, and slow movements are wonderfully poetic. My favorite movement is No. 2, (adagio cantabile,) with its expressive lyricism and plaintive sounding violin solo. The Sextet is equally beautiful. I highly recommend this CD!"
