"On this 2-CD set, you get a large helping of great flamenco music, played and sung by two of the genre's greatest living exponents. Fosforito is undoubtedly great. Ditto the guitarist, Paco de Lucia. Short of the deceased legend, El camaron de la isla; this is about as good as it gets nowadays. Even better, the sound is excellent. You get a nice sense of live performance, without having to sacrifice sound quality. The recorded guitar sound captures the richness and vigor of Paco, with enough acoustic to balance the specificity of individual strings with the local resonance of the guitar wood sounding board, as well as the near field room resonance. Palmillas and shouted encouragements increase the sense of occasion. Fosforito as a singer can be rough and gutteral and melismatic, but not always, and maintains true fiery spirit in all the diverse forms. You can hear the ancient Moorish influences, along with the more specifically Spanish, along with something that in its peculiar way reminds me of good old R&B. Each Cd has about 24 songs, ample, indeed. Get this now. Highly recommended."
