Album DescriptionWhat happens when you mix Matchbox 20, the Smashing Pumpkins, Jars of Clay with a little Delirious thrown in for good measure? Try "The Seeing Kind", the new CD from San Francisco Bay Area based, Seed. The 11 song CD features singer/songwriter Chris McCooey, dueling electric guitarists David Guadarrama and Zhali Nienu and the solid, rock steady rhythm section of drummer Luis Pereira and basist Joel Tacorda. All the players are veterans of the Bay Area music scene. In particular, McCooey was known a few years back as a member of the buzz band, Soda and Guadarama's past life included the band 500 Hats. Guadarrama produced and recorded the CD in the true, indy spirit...a computer workstation and his parent's living room. Despite the humble origin the end result is a sonic feast, aided by the experienced ears of Bay Area producer/engineer Michael Rosen (Rancid, Santana, Eddie Money) who provided the mix. "The Seeing Kind" is Seed's first full length release and it spans musical styles and lyrical themes on its spiritual journey through invitation ("come to the waters tho you've got no money"), response ("I sit on a fence hanging out, watching the world go by / I've never complained until now"), commitment ("You are the truth / the only truth I know"), worship ("holy holy holy, You are the lamb of God") and hope ("one day there will be no more suffering / one day there will be no more fear / someday we'll look back on judgment and the Lord said today, His kingdom is near"). "The songs on this record really document my walk over the last six years or so." says songwriter McCooey. "My hope was to share my story with others through this music so that they might find something they can identify with. In the end this story is about hope. I'm living on the other side of this journey, looking forward to the next leg of it in the confidence that my hope is secured in my Lord."
