CD Reviews

British Invasion

"Seachers, one of the 60s bands and at par with The Beatles, Kinks, Hollies and the rest of the gangs. I really love their music most likely that ballad 'Till I Met You'. This song is the 'B' side of 'Goodbye My love' (if i'm not mistaken). At last i found this song in this 2 cd collection. 'Needles and Pins', 'When You Walk in The Room' (also recorded by Del Shannon); 'Four Strong Winds' (also recorded by Neil Young); 'A Tear Fell' (popularized by late 50s star Teresa Brewer); etc. are now part of my collection.

Sound is still a good one only lacking that deep bass found on most recordings today. Price of this 2 cd is reasonable and worth buying."
Hits, B-sides, and Album Cuts

"The Searchers have certainly had their fair share of compilation CDs over the years, but this 2004 import release from Castle Pulse has a number of songs that are not ordinarily included on most compilations, along with a smattering of hit tunes. A number of these songs were B-sides and album tracks, and hearing several of them for the first time solidifies, for me, The Searchers' deserved reputation as one of the very best bands of the British Invasion. It's unfortunate that the band didn't have the song writing talents of some of the other bands of the era, otherwise they would have enjoyed a greater longevity as recording artists. Still, the songs sound fresh and energetic and represent a great time in pop music history.

Serious fans of The Searchers probably have the songs in their collections, but casual fans of The Searchers, who want to go a little deeper into the band's catalog, will enjoy this CD, as well as those who enjoy music from the British Invasion of the 1960s.

"It is so delightful to hear again the wonderful sounds of this group. As a teenager, they were among the top performers of my favourite's list. It's just "nice" to be able to listen to pleasant, non-raucous vocalists. Maybe I'm just too old!! Thanks Noelene"
