"I want to write something deserving of Scrawl, but I know I can't. They are amazing. They are True, you know? True with a capital T. Not afraid to show weakness in lyrics which only makes them seem so strong. ex. "I wake you early. I know you hate mornings. You fall asleep, I cry because you don't love me. You tell me not to call, so I come over instead. You ask me not to drink, so I pass out in a different bed." If you relate to these lyrics at all, and love indieguitarrock, seek this band out. Pre-riotgrrl, pre-Hole and no recognition. Underdogs of the indie scene, and they are scrappers."
A must-have album

"I agree that this is one of the best indierock albums of the 1990s, and that the songwriting is impressive both for its searching, revelatory nature and its understated power. It's full of surprising emotion -- bleak, but beautiful, and infused with more sincere feeling and yearnings than the entire grunge-alt scene could muster in a decade. If you have the chance to get this record, don't hesistate for a second. Marcy Mays was definitely an underrated songwriter."

"This is the album where Marcy Mays turned me into a starry-eyed little farm boy again. You find an aching love song better than track 6 "Tell Me Now," and I will perform electrolysis on a poodle. I missed Dana's send off in Columbus, but the next time I see her, I'm offering Marcy my letter sweater, my collection of worn out leather riding gloves, and my undying love. Buy it; listen; you'll live forever."
