Very Good Indie!

"Like many blues musicians, Scott Ellison is little known in the United States outside of his hometown of Tulsa Oklahoma, despite the release of 4, rather good CD's. The first three, all on little known indie lables like Redhot Records and Fishhead Records, are rather difficult to find but are woth the effort. By way of background, Ellison got his start with the Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown band and has played guitar with the likes of old R&B bands such as the "Coasters", "The Shirrelles" and "The Boxtops".Like his past CD's, this disc features songs that are laced with R&B, rock and pop, but which still remain true to the blues. While the CD is moderately tempoed, there are plenty of guitar solo's, B-3 organ music and Habenero horns throughout to keep it interesting. Another plus is that Ellison's vocals are easy listening. A winner overall. Now, if he could just find someone to reissue his first three recordings, he just might have a following."

"Scott Ellison is the most under-rated Jazz gem this Side of Maxine Weldon, also a fellow Oklahoman. "I Wish I Had A Dime" is a boogie boon, "Behind That Smile" is a smoky smoldering 2am whistful wonder.Mr. Ellsion mixes 3 parts tradition and 1 part newer generation craftsmanship to his music that creates a hearty pot pie of heartland Jazz that shouldn't be missed."
