"Schwein Rules! This album is an amalgamation of three musical styles. The electro-funk of PIG (Raymond Watts), industrial-rock of KMFDM, and the electronic-japanese-pop-metal-misc sound of Buck-Tick come together rather well.Seldom do you hear an album with lyrics in three languages. Schwein does it well. This "Super Project Band" is awesome. This is one of the three best albums I've heard this year."
Wasn't what I expected...

"I was expecting pretty much another pig album. That's pretty off. This isn't pig, kmfdm or even buck-tick. It's schwein, which ironically enough is german for "pig". It starts off with "You're my disease". Everything in that opening track is an indication of what's the come of the other tracks. Sakurai, on this album did a great job and listening to this makes me regret more and more the fact that I don't own a single buck-tick album. Mainly due to insane import prices. Sascha stuck mainly to programming with the occasional lead/backup vocals. Raymond was on his game with this one as he usually is. Definately worth listening to. I'd honestly try to find it through the marketplace, if possible. Fifty dollars for a single cd is robbery. I spent about 30 and i'm surely not regretting a single cent of it.
Only gripe is the "schwein remix" of "My Sanctuary". If anyone's expecting anything different and new, you might not be happy. All is pretty much is, is "My Sanctuary" (spent sperm mix) from Wrecked. Not a single change in music. It's definately the wrecked version. Only difference. Raymond's vocals sound re-recorded and also comes the addition of sakurai's vocals in the chorus. It's not an awful song. Was just expecting a brand new version with sascha especially, being a part of it. But it's a good track. Definately worth listening to along with the entire cd.
Standout tracks are "You're My Disease", "Lips, Lard, Liquor", and "Porno". If you're a kmfdm/pig fan. You'll probably be into this. You should probably check out buck-tick too to get a good idea of the other element. This is definately worth getting. But i'd try to find a cheaper price than 50."
A KMFDM Fan Must Have

"Strangely enough, this album got mixed reviews by it's listeners. I'm curious as to what exactly those people we're expecting. Personally, I haven't been able to stop listening to it or the companion remix album. It's extremely reminiscent of works by KMFDM, Pig, Sow, Schaft and Slick Idiot but with an occasional Eastern twist on the vocals. A must have for fans of the aforementioned and a real masterpiece in my opinion. Comes highly recommended by me. I simply cannot say enough good things about this project. I surely fail to see how any fan could be disappointed with this release."

"Coming from the perspective of a Buck-Tick fan, I found the tracks "Organzola," and "You're My Disease" to be excellent and worth buying the cd for. Others that shone were "Crown" and "Lard, Lips, Liquor." I'd say that if you're approaching this as a B-T fan, think of the album Six/Nine or the side project Schaft. Though the flavour isn't the same, I personally find there's an edge that's very reminiscent of those albums."
A Mediocre Effort From a Group With Plenty of Potential

"Schweinstein is a very interesting collaboration between Raymond Watts (PIG), Sascha Konietzko (KMFDM/MDFMK) and two members of the Japanese Pop group 'Buck-Tick'. Spearheaded by PIG vocalist Raymond Watts, this project had a lot of potential, but seems to have left a lot of it unrealized; of the 11 included tracks (one a bonus track), only three seem to really stick with you after listening to the album -- World's Junk, Schwein and Crown.Tracks such as Fantasia, Lard, Lips & Liquor, and Fantasia seem to be throw-aways, and as a whole, all of the songs share common production and sound, but never quite seem to gel as a full album. World's Junk starts off with a looped chorus repeating "Kiss it, Lick It, Smell it" along with filtered japanese voices and some heavily distorted vocals courtesy of Watts -- definitely one of the stronger tracks on this album. Crown is another track featuring Raymond Watts' growling, dignified and sexy voice, but this time sharing his distaste with a relationship, while Schwein is a song in the KMFDM-style of self-advertisement and very upbeat in comparison to the others.Sascha himself is quoted as saying he didn't feel this was one of the stronger projects he's been involved with, and it's readily apparent after listening to this album; while there's some solid tracks on this album, a lot of the lyrics and content almost seem to be regurgitated from previous PIG works, and Sascha himself doesn't appear very much in the album. While this is definitely going to be of interest to KMFDM and PIG fans, and is definitely enjoyable for a bit, the fact that it's an import ... makes it hard to recommend to fellow industrial fans. I would suggest finding a way to listen to it beforehand, before making your purchase. Those interested in this album may also wish to check out the 1993 album by Schaft, called Switchblade, which is a collaboration between Watts and a member of Buck-Tick and Soft Ballet, as well as some of the more recent PIG albums."
