"I first heard this piece over the radio. At the conclusion, I knew that I must own it. The basic problem with performing Schubert is how to avoid the boredom growing as each repetition comes down the pike. Les Musiciens liven their performance not by adding bombast but by slightly altering their playing in each repetition. The performance exerts a subtle power over the listener so that he or she comes back to it over and over.

The recording is as superb as the playing."

"This particular recording is my favorite for this piece. The recording is absolutely wonderful. A great miking technique has captured the beautiful ambience of the hall. Stereo imaging and sound-staging are exceptional.They playing is very proficient, tasteful, and at time borders on the sublime. One gets the impression that these musicians are kind of "in a groove"; if that's possible for classical music. (Some say it is impossible) It's apparent that the musicians have either been playing together for quite sometime or are intimate with one another.The Andante Con Motto and Allegro Moderato are the highlights.Buy it! You won't be disappointed. It is simply beautiful."
