"Excellent performance on period instruments. I have nothing more to add to BBC Music Magazine's review: "This exemplary account from the Mozartean Players includes the original finale alongside the customary one. The opportunity to compare both versions is illuminating. The Mozartean Players are outstanding period executants, who invest this score with compelling freshness and vitality. These artists, internationally recognized authorities on Classical performance, bring erudite scholarship and alluring poise to their reading, which I'll be returning to henceforth as a benchmark version of D929. Recorded sound, too, is outstanding." Performance FIVE STARS; Sound FIVE STARS"
Schubert's "director cut"? Listen for yourself!

"With all the hoopla over "director's cut" movie versions and the chance to see what *could* have been, it's fascinating to have the rare opportunity to hear two versions of one of Schubert's wonderful trios. What's more, the playing is wonderful -- full of depth, spirit, and lyricism. I'm puzzled by the sour review posted here by someone else, as I couldn't disagree more. Here you have a chance to hear Schubert's trio in a way that's not often heard -- with the period instruments of his time, that provide a completely different feel and sound. Maybe the other reviewer just doesn't "get" period instruments, but for me, they add a unique, more open and honest feel to the music. At the very least, you'll want to get this CD so you can compare for yourself -- no matter what your preference, it's a fascinating musical history lesson and a rare look into a different ending penned by Schubert."
