Light, Delightful, Rich, and Real...

"Absolutely wonderful realizations of Schubert's Trios, etc.
The great Dutch cellist Anner Bylsma is given top billing here, but these sessions were something of a `family affair' with Jos van Immerseel and Vera Beths (Bylsma's partner) as equals.
Performed on classic instruments, (van Immerseel plays a Tröndlin fortepiano; Beths, a Stradivari violin; and Blysma, a Pressenda cello), these performances are more than standard Historically Informed Performance Practice (HIPP) fare, for these artists are playing this music out of pure love of Schubert's Art itself--an appreciation of the innate uniqueness of Schubert's harmonic technique, his timings, and his melodies.
In other words, while these artists are utilizing HIPP theory and instruments, their actual teleological purpose for meeting together is to realize Schubert's mind and aesthetic in his Art--and thereby more fully experience a joy of Being: an exercise and pursuit of sheer ontological Beauty.
We may share their joy, and experience it in our own lives via these recordings.
Original recordings made in Nederland, 1996-97; nicely reissued here in two individual jewel cases with paper box.
The recorded sound is immaculate.
The instrumental sound is exquisite: the strings are vibrant and clear; the fortepiano, bright and crisp.
Having several different recordings of these pieces, this now has become a new favourite.
